More Mechanical Points!

Well the husband has been quite the little handyman this week yet again! Yesterday he built not only the crib but also the baby's dresser. I only heard some minor grumbles from the room (Probably because it was all for the baby and not for me). I think the dresser was by far the most tedious piece with all the drawers. The husband has decided that we will never again have a dresser that comes form a box - only real furniture from here on out. So someday maybe I'll actually get some nice furniture for our master bedroom.

Earning Mechanical Points

The husband has officially earned a mass of mechanical points this past week. For a few weeks now our garbage disposal has been on the fritz, since a glass broke in the sink. After the sink backed up and I started to refuse to do dishes the husband finally broke out his tool box.

He was so cute. He walked into the kitchen with his red toolbox ready to do battle with the pipes and garbage disposal. Never mind the fact that he has never worked on plumbing before. He did go in knowing that there was a reset switch, thanks to Logoann but it turned out to be more complicated than that. I think his general plan was just to take it all apart and maybe it would magically work.

After about 1/2 hour he walked out dejected and claimed that we would need to call a plumber. Knowing that timeliness was of the essence (I had to keep him interested in fixing it before all hope was lost) I suggested looking up fixing garbage disposals on Google. (Funny it never occurred to the husband to look up the issue on the internet, even though he is on the web all day.) I showed him a web site on fixing a blocked disposal and he bravely went back into battle.

After hearing some very strange and at times scary noises in the kitchen, the husband triumphed over the evil disposal and won the day and I now have a working disposal again! Woo hoo! The joys of home ownership!

Happy New Year!

What an exciting new year! The husband and I brought in the new year with Logoann and her husband with some sparkling apple cider after which we immediately sought out our pillows.

This new year is really exciting because this is the year that our baby will be born! I still can't believe it but I am constantly reminded when the baby kicks and pokes me each day.

The house is taking shape as well. The end of 2006 saw the hanging of the first pictures and curtains in our new house. In the coming weeks of 2007 we will be actually decorating the babies room. Painting the nursery is scheduled for next week thanks to Logoann's offer to help. She is my official decorator :-) And we are expecting the nursery furniture to arrive any day now!

I can't wait to set up the baby's room!
